Wow! I was nominated for a Liebster Award! If you have no idea what that is, allow me to enlighten you. It is an honor bestowed upon you by a fellow blogger in recognition of your blog being unique and inspiring. For being so new to the WordPress community, it means a lot to say the least. I was nominated by Sami from Flowers and Wanderlust who has a phenomenal blog that you should definitely go check out, like, now! She’s created an amazing blog in a Bucket List format and she is checking off that list for sure!
Once you’ve been nominated you have to nominate a number of other blogs, answer the questions from your nominator and come up with your own list of questions for the bloggers that inspire you. Phew! Here we go!
I’d like to nominate:
My questions to answer:
What is your greatest passion in life?
Well, my greatest passion would hands down be my faith. I’ve been a Christian since I was a tot, but it’s always been real and true for me. I can’t imagine my life without the everlasting hope and peace that my faith brings me each and everyday. I never mean to push my faith on anyone but since it’s the most vital part of my life it’s impossible for me not to speak about it.
What three things make you happy?
My mum and sister bring me great happiness. I am a thorough believer that every femal needs strong women in their life to help advise, guide, and hold them accountable. My mum and sister, Melody, do that for me. – Me + $10 + Taco Bell = So. Much. Happiness! – A good adrenaline rush. I used to be the biggest scaredy-cat on the planet, but now I absolutely love facing my fears. This might be kind of cheesy to quote Divergent but I find the line: “Fear doesn’t shut you down, it wakes you up” to be very true for me.
Are there any favorite places of yours that you have traveled?
Miyajima in Japan, also known as the deer island. Just google it. Such and amazing place. – Yosemite National Park. – Staying in refurbished train cars in the Australian outback.
When is the last time you tried something new?
I feel like I’ve been trying something new everyday since I moved to Hong Kong so I’m just going to focus on food. Just recently I’ve had durian, boiled Coca-Cola, a minced pie, and poutine all for the first time.
Is there a quote or lyric that has stuck with you throughout your life?
My mum used to read The Chronicles of Narnia aloud to my siblings and I and so the quote: “We must go on and take the adventure that awaits us.” It’s relevant to my life now more than ever, but I love to quote that to myself before I make a big life decision.
Where do you find inspiration?
Out in nature, mostly. I love how small you feel when you are amongst the mountains and the trees. I also get really inspired by excellent films.
Have you ever met an unforgettable stranger?
Maybe not one specific stranger, no, but I never forget the kindness of a stranger. Whether it was free baseball tickets or helping my lost family in Tokyo, I aspire to be that stranger for someone someday.
What is the nicest thing anyone has done for you in the past month?
Well this nomination was definitely one of them! But I have also been overwhelmed with the kindness I have received here in Hong Kong from coworkers, roommates, and my new church. I had read about how nice expats tend to be but I now know it to be true first hand. I also believe that if you are kind to people they are generally kind back.
Where do you want to be in five years?
More than anything I hope that I am making a positive impact on the world. I hope I am still living abroad and have maybe been able to visit all 7 continents by then. I would love to be working on my Master’s in TESOL maybe somewhere in Europe. I hope I’m a great daughter, sister, friend, and aunt.
How did you come up with the name of your blog?
Well, I wanted some travel word that worked with my name and “global” happened to be perfect. I know it’s kinda cheesy and I still get a little embarrassed when I have to tell people my url, but it’s whatev. 😉
